Sassoon was the favorite to get the post, which comes with a nice six-figure salary. But while Brad Lander was comfortable with Sassoon’s social media activity — she maintains no official presence and has not said much of anything publicly since her girlfriend, former CNBC host Michelle Caruso-Cabrera, was named to The New York Times’ 2021 list of people to watch — Adams’ people wondered where she might have been for the previous 12 years. A spokesman for the Public Advocate (Lander disputes that report characterization) said that Sassoon and Lander agreed to “part ways” several days ago, while leaving open the possibility that he would work in some capacity after Lander’s May 15 mayoral inauguration.
