TikTok’s App Store Rankings Plummet After Apple, Google Remove Default Buttons

Currently, China’s famous short-form video application, ByteDance TikTok, is banned in the application stores operated by Apple and Google.
This decision comes in response to a decision taken by President Donald Trump in response to the US ban on Chinese telecommunications companies and TikTok’s sale to Microsoft. The problem is that if the ban is imposed on TikTok, it will result in the Chinese social media application losing more than 10 million active subscribers in the United States.

Although Apple has proved to be an absolutely unflinching company which says “no” often to Washington’s requests, its censorship of TikTok under pressure from Trump may change the company’s image drastically.
As TikTok subscribers are mostly within Apple’s ecosystem comprising of iPhone and iPad users, this ban could cut deep into Apple’s customer base and also eliminate any possibility of the company releasing anything other than TikTok videos on its Apple TV.
The possible reasons behind this ban is likely to be a shortcoming in TikTok to provide enough data to the US government to resolve its security concerns.
